Se acaba de publicar en el sitio web de Joomla el lanzamiento de un nuevo proyecto: Joopal. El objetivo es mezclar lo mejor de Drupal y Joomla para dar lugar a un nuevo y más potente CMS.
La verdad es que somos muchos los que alguna vez hemos pensado que sería ideal contar con un CMS con la facilidad de uso y gestión de Joomla y la potencia y versatilidad de Drupal. Del anuncio oficial en el sitio web de Joomla me han llamado la atención algunas ideas como:
- La baza de Joomla frente a Drupal es su programación orientada a objetos mientas que se considera que la de Drupal es su flexibilidad.
- Joopal sería compatible con las funciones de Drupal 6.
- Con Joopal puedes utilizar los bloques de Drupal y utilizar sus módulos como componentes de Joomla.
- Por último, el comunicado de Joomla invita a todos los que trabajan con Drupal a testear Joopal.
La verdad es que parece una fantasía hecha realidad… que bien podría tener que ver con el día de los inocentes. A fin de cuentas hoy es el April Fools’ Day en muchos países anglosajones.
seria curioso e interesante, me parece que aun no se puede descargar joopal, porque aun en el sitio oficial de joomla no encotre mas info, si alguien puede, saqueme de esta ignoracia por favor jeje!
¡Mañana nos sacarán de dudas! Seguro que hacen la aclaración y algún tipo de recopilatorio de los sitios que han caído en la trampa.

Ummm… me da la sensación de que no está directamente relacionada con la noticia de Joomla…
Para aumentar el nivel de cachondeo Dries Buitaert (o alguien que se identifica como él) añade en los comentarios del anuncio oficial:
“The Drupal community is particularly excited about this initiative because it will give the Drupal team a chance to finally examine the secrets of the Joomla! code base. For years we’ve been wondering what Joomla!’s secret sauce is (there’s been speculation that it has something to do with the ! … we even thought about rebranding to Drupal! at one point, but the contrarians said we couldn’t just be copycats, and proposed Drupal?, which didn’t seem to have the same appeal, but that’s another story…)
While we are very dedicated to Joopal, as you might imagine, we are aware of the danger that we might not get along with the Joomla! folks. They have a rough history of being quite difficult to get along with (cases in point: Mambo fork, Amy Stephen, SXSW… need I say more?), so we do reserve the right to fork the project again at some point in the future and go back to being Drupal. Or maybe #Drupal.
Anyway, I for one welcome our new supreme overlord, boss of the Joopal project, Matt Mullenweg. Matt, I think it was a good decision to give up your hobby project and come play with the big boys, and I’m sure you’ll do a great job here. Welcome.
